;Friendship and love are still important issues for young students in the university life. In various br>intimate relationships, friendship and love are to make college students get emotional support in the process br>of interaction with others, build self-confidence and identity. However, our students do not have adequate br>learning on the subject of relationships education in schools. We rarely know how young students and their br>significant others feel when the friendship and/or love relationships go wrong or when they have to face br>dilemmas. How do they respond or adapt to? In other words, friendship and love are the subjects that get br>tremendous attention and concern from young students, and they are also the subjects that need to be further br>developed or expanded for Taiwan’s gender equity education. On the implementation of gender and br>relationships education, we must understand students’ concerns, problems, and frustrations in the process of br>experiencing friendship and/or love relationships, and face the impact brought about by negative emotions. br>Those can be transformed into teachable topics to teach and dialogue with students in a formal curriculum, br>including exploring a variety of coping strategies. These topics are worthwhile to invest and take forward the br>education reform for gender educators. br>Therefore, this study will use qualitative research, on the inquiry of college students’ friendship and love br>experiences, and combine with peer education and case method to develop teaching cases and teaching br>strategies to promote gender and relationships education in Taiwan. This study will focus on the dilemma and br>difficulties at college students’ friendship and love experiences, especially troubled problems or dilemma and br>response ways at the intersection of friendship and love relationships. By learning from the dilemma and br>difficulties, we are able to get better chances to know our young students, to understand the students live, and br>to learn our students how to practice intimate relationships and develop gender identity in the real world. By br>learning from the dilemma and difficulties, we will also have the opportunity to reveal the education space br>and pedagogical tools transformed from the frustration or negative experiences in the friendship and love br>relationships. Furthermore, by integrating peer education and case method, teachers and students also have br>the better chance to face and discuss these intimate relationship problems in the classroom. Teachers can br>empower students’ abilities to deal with frustration and difficulties, enhance students’ maturity of emotional br>expression and communication, problem-solving skills, and help students develop an equal relation in the br>intimate relationships.
